Tesamorelin 5 mg vial: mixing and syringe units
A 5 mg vial of Tesamorelin mixed with 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water is 2 mg/mL. At that strength 1 mg is 50 units on a U-100 syringe and 2 mg is 100 units. The doses on this page are a reported range, not a label dose.

Each row is one dose, the volume to draw and where that sits on a U-100 insulin syringe. The last three columns show which syringe sizes can hold it in one draw.
| Dose | Volume | Syringe units | 0.3 mL syringe | 0.5 mL syringe | 1 mL syringe |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mg Reported low end | 0.50 mL | 50 units | No | Yes | Yes |
| 1.28 mg Egrifta WR label | 0.64 mL | 64 units | No | No | Yes |
| 1.4 mg Egrifta SV label | 0.70 mL | 70 units | No | No | Yes |
| 2 mg Original Egrifta label | 1.00 mL | 100 units | No | No | Yes |
Source Label doses are for the Egrifta products as supplied, which are not interchangeable. The 1 mg row is reported use, not a label dose. Vial math is arithmetic.
How to mix a 5 mg Tesamorelin vial
- Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the Tesamorelin vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
- Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
- Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
- Write the date and 2 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.
If you add a different amount of water
More water makes each dose a bigger, easier draw. Less water makes it smaller. The milligrams in the vial do not change.
| Water added | Concentration | 1 mg | 1.28 mg | 1.4 mg | 2 mg |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 5 mg/mL | 20 units | 25.6 units | 28 units | 40 units |
| 2 mL | 2.5 mg/mL | 40 units | 51.2 units | 56 units | 80 units |
| 2.5 mL | 2 mg/mL | 50 units | 64 units | 70 units | 100 units |
| 3 mL | 1.6667 mg/mL | 60 units | 76.8 units | 84 units | 120 units |
The marked row is the amount used in the chart above. Red cells are draws under 5 units, which are hard to read, or over 100 units, which one 1 mL syringe cannot hold.

Tesamorelin 5 mg vial questions
How many units is 1 mg of Tesamorelin from a 5 mg vial?
With 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 2 mg/mL. 1 mg is 0.50 mL, which is 50 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many units is 1.28 mg of Tesamorelin from a 5 mg vial?
With 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 2 mg/mL. 1.28 mg is 0.64 mL, which is 64 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many units is 1.4 mg of Tesamorelin from a 5 mg vial?
With 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 2 mg/mL. 1.4 mg is 0.70 mL, which is 70 units on a U-100 syringe.
How much bacteriostatic water goes in a 5 mg Tesamorelin vial?
2.5 mL is the amount used on this page. It gives 2 mg/mL and puts the doses at 50, 64, 70, 100 units. Any amount works as long as the math is redone for it.
What if I added 1 mL instead of 2.5 mL?
The vial would be 5 mg/mL instead of 2 mg/mL, so 1 mg would be 20 units instead of 50. The dose in the syringe is the same; only the volume changes.
How many doses are in a 5 mg Tesamorelin vial?
Whole doses in one vial: 5 at 1 mg, 3 at 1.28 mg, 3 at 1.4 mg, 2 at 2 mg.
