GHRP-6 dosage: chart, reported range and vial math

GHRP-6 has no approved dose in the US or Canada. Reported use is 100 to 300 mcg per injection, which is not a label dose. Published human studies gave single doses into a vein of about 1 mcg per kg or a flat 100 mcg, plus nasal and oral test doses. It is not approved in either country.

How to mix a GHRP-6 vial

These steps are for the 5 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.

  1. Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw 3 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
  4. Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
  5. Write the date and 1.6667 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.

What GHRP-6 is

GHRP-6 is a synthetic six amino acid peptide (His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2) that makes the pituitary release growth hormone. [5]

Other names: growth hormone-releasing peptide 6, growth hormone-releasing hexapeptide, GHRP6, GHRP, SK&F 110679, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2.

How it has been given to people: injection or infusion into a vein in most human studies; nasal and oral doses have also been tested.

What to know before reading a dose

  • No approved product exists in the US or Canada. GHRP-6 offered for sale is not an approved drug.
  • The 100 to 300 mcg range is reported use, not a label dose. No published human study of repeated injections under the skin was found.
  • Most human data are single test doses into a vein, around 1 mcg/kg or a flat 100 mcg, measuring the growth hormone response over a few hours.
  • FDA lists GHRP-6 among bulk substances that may present significant safety risks, citing possible immune reactions and data pointing to effects on cortisol and blood glucose [7].
  • A dose into a vein also raised prolactin and cortisol slightly [2].
  • The only multi-day dosing found is a stroke trial that used 3.5 mg or 5 mg into a vein twice a day together with another drug, in hospital. Those doses are far above the reported range and do not carry over to it.
  • WADA Prohibited List 2026, section [2].2.4, names GHRP-6 among GH-releasing peptides; the class is prohibited at all times [12].

What the evidence shows

Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.

Small human study

In normal men a 30-minute infusion raised growth hormone in step with the dose, from 0.25 mcg/kg upward. [1]

Small human study

In six healthy men, seven nasal doses eight hours apart raised IGF-I from 94.5 to 125.8 micrograms per litre, and the growth hormone response did not fade. [2]

Small human study

In children with short stature a single oral dose of 300 mcg/kg produced a growth hormone response. [3]

Small human study

In obese subjects 100 mcg into a vein released almost twice as much growth hormone as GHRH did. [4]

Small human study

Blood levels were uneven in some volunteers: four of nine showed unexpected concentration spikes while the drug was being cleared. [5]

Small human study

In a small open-label stroke trial, GHRP-6 at 3.5 mg or 5 mg twice a day for 7 days, given with epidermal growth factor, was judged safe by its authors. The effect of GHRP-6 alone cannot be separated out. [6]

Side effects and warnings

Reported in human studies or on a label:

  • In six healthy men, a dose into a vein raised prolactin and cortisol slightly but significantly. [2]
  • In the first study in 17 men the infusion was described as safe and well tolerated. [1]
  • In the stroke trial, serious adverse events occurred in 3 of 10 and 2 of 10 treated patients against 9 of 16 on standard care. These were patients with acute stroke. [6]
  • FDA says the limited data it has point to possible effects on cortisol and a rise in blood glucose from lower insulin sensitivity. [7]

GHRP-6 has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.

Storage

Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.

GHRP-6 dosage questions

How many units is 200 mcg of GHRP-6 from a 5 mg vial?

Mixed with 3 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 5 mg vial is 1.6667 mg/mL. 200 mcg is 0.12 mL, which is 12 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much water goes in a 5 mg GHRP-6 vial?

3 mL gives 1.6667 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 6, 12, 18 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many doses are in a 5 mg vial?

Whole doses in one vial: 50 at 100 mcg, 25 at 200 mcg, 16 at 300 mcg.

Is GHRP-6 approved in the US?

No FDA-approved product. FDA lists GHRP-6 among bulk drug substances that may present significant safety risks in compounding.

Is GHRP-6 authorized in Canada?

No GHRP-6 product, current or cancelled, is in Health Canada's Drug Product Database, and Health Canada has listed GHRP 6 among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs sold online.

What is the half-life of GHRP-6?

After a single dose into a vein in nine healthy men: distribution half-life about 7.6 minutes, elimination half-life about 2.5 hours. No human half-life after injection under the skin was found.

What human dosing data is there for GHRP-6?

No approved product exists in the US or Canada. GHRP-6 offered for sale is not an approved drug.

Looked for and not found

  • Any published human study of repeated injections under the skin, at 100 to 300 mcg or any other dose. One abstract says the peptide is active by that route in man [3], but no study reporting such a regimen was found.
  • Human half-life after injection under the skin. The figures here are from a dose into a vein [5].
  • A registered trial on ClinicalTrials.gov: an intervention search for GHRP-6 returned 0 studies on 2026-10-11 [13]. The stroke trial is in the Cuban registry.
  • Any approved product in any country, and any FDA approval or Health Canada authorization, past or present [10], [11].
  • Controlled data on body composition, muscle, fat loss or healing in people. None was found.
  • A human trial of GHRP-6 given alone for more than a few doses. The 7-day stroke trial gave it together with epidermal growth factor [6].
  • The Phase III stroke trial listed on PubMed in 2026 (PMID 42462342) was not read and is not cited.
