HGH Fragment 176-191 dosage: chart, reported range and vial math

There is no established dose of HGH Fragment 176-191. No published human study of this fragment was found; the research is in rats, mice and cells. Reports describe 250 to 500 mcg once or twice a day, which is not a label dose. It is not approved in the US or Canada. AOD-9604 is a different compound.

How to mix a HGH Fragment 176-191 vial

These steps are for the 2 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.

  1. Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
  4. Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
  5. Write the date and 1 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.

What HGH Fragment 176-191 is

HGH Fragment 176-191 is a synthetic copy of the last 16 amino acids of human growth hormone, residues 176 to 191. It is not the same as AOD-9604, which is residues 177 to 191 with a tyrosine added at the front. [5]

Other names: Frag 176-191, Fragment 176-191, hGH 176-191, hGH fragment 176-191, GH fragment 176-191, 176-191.

How it has been given to people: no human use on record.

What to know before reading a dose

  • No human study of this fragment was found. The human trials people cite for it were trials of AOD-9604, a different compound that was given by mouth; see the AOD-9604 page.
  • How they differ: Fragment 176-191 is the unmodified end of growth hormone, residues 176 to 191. AOD-9604 is residues 177 to 191 with a tyrosine added at the front [5]. Data for one does not transfer to the other.
  • Reviews sometimes merge the two. A 2026 review writes 'AOD9604 (hGH 176-191)' as if they were one compound [8].
  • Most of the fat-loss lab work used hGH 177-191 or AOD-9604, not 176-191 [2], [3], [4], [6].
  • In the 1978 rat study that tested 176-191 by name, it raised blood sugar and reduced insulin sensitivity [1]. The claim that it is free of growth hormone's blood sugar effects comes from AOD-9604 work in mice [6].
  • Not an approved medicine in the US or Canada as of the check date. Health Canada lists HGH Fragment among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs seized from an online seller [13].
  • WADA Prohibited List 2026, section [2].2.3, names hGH 176-191 among growth hormone fragments; the class is prohibited at all times [14].

What the evidence shows

Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.

Animal study

The one early paper that tested the 176-191 fragment by name gave it to normal rats, where it raised blood sugar for a short time and raised insulin for longer. [1]

Animal study

In the same rat study a single dose of the active fragments made the animals less sensitive to insulin. This is the opposite of the claim that the fragment has no effect on blood sugar. [1]

Animal study

Work on the one-residue-shorter fragment, hGH 177-191, found it slowed fat building in rat fat tissue but did not speed fat breakdown. [2]

Animal study

In obese mice, long-term treatment with hGH 177-191 cut weight gain and fat mass. This is the 177-191 fragment, not 176-191. [3]

Animal study

In obese Zucker rats, 20 days of the 177-191 fragment (lab code AOD9401) reduced weight gain. [4]

Animal study

The modified version, AOD9604, reduced weight gain in obese mice without raising blood sugar. This is a result for AOD-9604, not for Fragment 176-191. [6]

Lab study

The only PubMed paper with Fragment 176-191 in its title is a cell study that loaded it into nanoparticles with a chemotherapy drug and tested them on breast cancer cells. It says nothing about fat loss. [7]

Side effects and warnings

No side effect data from human studies was found for HGH Fragment 176-191. That is a gap in the research, not a sign that it is safe.

HGH Fragment 176-191 has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.

Storage

Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.

HGH Fragment 176-191 dosage questions

How many units is 500 mcg of HGH Fragment 176-191 from a 2 mg vial?

Mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 2 mg vial is 1 mg/mL. 500 mcg is 0.50 mL, which is 50 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much water goes in a 2 mg HGH Fragment 176-191 vial?

2 mL gives 1 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 25, 50 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many doses are in a 2 mg vial?

Whole doses in one vial: 8 at 250 mcg, 4 at 500 mcg.

Is HGH Fragment 176-191 approved in the US?

Not FDA approved. No product or label for a growth hormone fragment was found in Drugs@FDA.

Is HGH Fragment 176-191 authorized in Canada?

No growth hormone fragment product is in Health Canada's Drug Product Database, and Health Canada lists HGH Fragment among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs seized from an online seller.

What human dosing data is there for HGH Fragment 176-191?

No human study of this fragment was found. The human trials people cite for it were trials of AOD-9604, a different compound that was given by mouth; see the AOD-9604 page.

  • No trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov: a search for growth hormone fragment 176-191 as the intervention returned no studies.
  • No human half-life or other pharmacokinetic figure.
  • No human side effect data. The only safety signal found is from rats, where the fragment raised blood sugar and lowered insulin sensitivity [1].
  • No approved label in the US or Canadian sources searched, so no official dose, contraindications or storage instructions.
  • No study comparing Fragment 176-191 with AOD-9604 head to head.
