Vilon dosage: chart, reported range and vial math
Vilon has been given to patients in a few small Russian studies, but their published abstracts state no dose. The 100 mcg to 2 mg a day that people report comes from sellers and users, not from a trial. It is not an approved medicine in the US or Canada, so there is no label dose.
Vilon dosage chart
Reported range, not a label dosePick your vial size. Each row shows the dose in milligrams or micrograms, the volume to draw and the mark on a U-100 syringe.
| Dose | Volume | Syringe units |
|---|---|---|
| 100 mcg | 0.01 mL | 1 units Too small to read well |
| 500 mcg | 0.05 mL | 5 units |
| 2 mg | 0.20 mL | 20 units |
Source Reported range, not a label dose. Reports run from 100 to 500 mcg a day up to 2 mg a day for 10 days. A few small Russian patient studies exist, but their published abstracts state no dose. Vial math is arithmetic.

How to mix a Vilon vial
These steps are for the 20 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.
- Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
- Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
- Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
- Write the date and 10 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.
| Vial | Bacteriostatic water | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| 20 mg vial | 2 mL | 10 mg/mL |
What Vilon is
Vilon is a synthetic dipeptide, Lys-Glu (KE). The researchers who made it, the group behind the thymus extract Thymalin, describe it as an immunomodulator. [1]
Other names: KE, KE peptide, Lys-Glu, L-Lys-L-Glu.
How it has been given to people: given to patients in three published studies, but their PubMed abstracts state no route or dose; the mouse lifespan study injected it under the skin.
What to know before reading a dose
- There is no published human dose. The three patient studies found are small Russian-language reports whose abstracts give no dose, no patient numbers and no detail of a control group.
- Nearly all of the work comes from one research group, the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, and its co-authors. The human findings have not been repeated by an independent group.
- The lifespan and anti-tumour findings are from mice and rats [5], [6]. They are not evidence of the same effect in people.
- The chromatin and immune cell findings are from cells treated in culture [8], [9], [10].
- The diabetes studies added Vilon to standard treatment. They are not a reason to change an insulin dose.
- Not an approved medicine in the US or Canada as of the check date. Health Canada warns against all unauthorized injectable peptide drugs [15].
What the evidence shows
Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.
Small human study
In patients with type 1 diabetes, adding Vilon to their treatment was reported to reduce or clear signs of chronic clotting inside blood vessels. The effect was weaker in elderly patients with severe disease. The abstract gives no dose, route or number of patients. [2]
Small human study
In elderly patients with type 1 diabetes, Vilon added to standard treatment was reported to lower the insulin dose needed in most cases. The abstract gives no dose of Vilon, no patient count and no control group details. [3]
Small human study
In elderly patients treated for stage III colon and rectal cancer, the authors added Vilon to surgery, radiation and chemotherapy and called their results preliminary. The abstract gives no numbers, dose or comparison group. [4]
Animal study
In female mice injected under the skin from 6 months of age, Vilon was reported to lengthen lifespan and lower the rate of spontaneous tumours. This is a mouse result. [5]
Animal study
In the same mouse study, long-term dosing caused no harm to the animals' development. This is not human safety data. [5]
Animal study
In rats given a chemical that causes bladder cancer, tumours developed in 56% of Vilon-treated animals and 75.5% of controls. [6]
Animal study
In old male rats with one testis removed, 50 mcg per rat was reported to raise sexual activity and lower prolactin. This is a rat dose and a rat result. [7]
Lab study
In blood lymphocytes from old people treated in culture, Vilon loosened tightly packed chromatin and switched ribosomal genes back on. The cells were treated, not the people. [8]
Lab study
Added to mouse spleen cells in a dish, Vilon raised interleukin-2 gene activity with no other trigger present. It was one of the two strongest of the three peptides tested. [9]
Lab study
In a human monocyte cell line studied at an Italian university together with the St. Petersburg group, Vilon and four other peptides lowered the inflammatory signals TNF and IL-6 after a bacterial trigger. [10]
Side effects and warnings
Reported in human studies or on a label:
- No human side-effect figures for Vilon were found in the abstracts read. Health Canada lists these risks for unauthorized injectable peptide drugs in general: hormonal imbalance, mood swings, blood sugar imbalance, liver or kidney damage, blood clots and growth of cancerous tumours. [15]
Vilon has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.
Storage
Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.
Vilon dosage questions
How many units is 2 mg of Vilon from a 20 mg vial?
Mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 20 mg vial is 10 mg/mL. 2 mg is 0.20 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe.
How much water goes in a 20 mg Vilon vial?
2 mL gives 10 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 1, 5, 20 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many doses are in a 20 mg vial?
Whole doses in one vial: 200 at 100 mcg, 40 at 500 mcg, 10 at 2 mg.
Is Vilon approved in the US?
Not FDA approved. No Vilon product is in Drugs@FDA, and it is not on the FDA page of bulk substances reviewed for compounding.
Is Vilon authorized in Canada?
No Vilon product is in the Health Canada Drug Product Database. Health Canada warns against all unauthorized injectable peptide drugs.
What human dosing data is there for Vilon?
There is no published human dose. The three patient studies found are small Russian-language reports whose abstracts give no dose, no patient numbers and no detail of a control group.

Looked for and not found
- No human dose. Three studies gave Vilon to patients [2], [3], [4], but none of their PubMed abstracts states a dose, a route, a schedule or the number of patients. The papers are in Russian and the full texts were not read.
- No randomized or placebo-controlled human trial was identified from the abstracts.
- The only stated doses are animal doses: 50 mcg per rat [7] and 10 mcg per kg in mice [12].
- No human half-life or other pharmacokinetic figure.
- No trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov: a search for vilon as the intervention returned no studies [17].
- No approved label in the US or Canadian sources searched, so no official dose, contraindications, interaction list or storage instructions.
- No human side-effect figures in the abstracts read.
