How to store peptides

Approved peptide medicines come with a storage rule on the label. Some are kept in a fridge, some at room temperature, and several say never to freeze. A vial with no approved label has no tested shelf life, before or after mixing. This page shows what the labels say and where the gaps are.

What holds for most vials

  • Follow the label if there is one. It is the only storage rule that was tested on that product.
  • Where there is no label, a mixed vial is usually kept in the fridge, upright, away from the freezer plate.
  • Keep it out of light.
  • Write the mixing date on the vial.
  • Do not use liquid that has turned cloudy, changed colour or has bits in it.

What the approved labels say

Only approved products have a tested storage rule. These are the ones on this site, in the label's own terms.

Vials with no label

For a peptide that is not an approved medicine, nobody has published how long that product keeps, dry or mixed. Figures passed around online for these vials are not from stability testing of the product in your hand.

This site does not print a number of days for them. A missing number is more honest than an invented one.

Questions

Can a mixed vial be frozen?

Several of the approved labels in the table on this page say not to freeze. For vials without a label there is no tested answer.

Does a dry vial need the fridge?

Follow the label or the maker's instructions. Approved products that ship as a dry powder state their own temperature range.

How long does a mixed vial last?

For an approved product, the label says. For anything else, no tested figure exists.
