Testagen dosage: chart, reported range and vial math

No published study has given Testagen to people, so there is no human dose. The 1 to 2 mg a day for 10 to 30 days passed around online comes from sellers and users, not from a trial. The only animal work is in birds. It is not approved in the US or Canada.

Testagen dosage chart

Reported range, not a label dose

Pick your vial size. Each row shows the dose in milligrams or micrograms, the volume to draw and the mark on a U-100 syringe.

Testagen, 20 mg vial mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water (10 mg/mL). Once daily.

Source Reported range, not a label dose. Reports describe 1 to 2 mg a day for 10 to 30 days. No human study of any kind has been published, and no animal abstract states a dose. Vial math is arithmetic.

How to mix a Testagen vial

These steps are for the 20 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.

  1. Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
  4. Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
  5. Write the date and 10 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.

What Testagen is

Testagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide, Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly (KEDG). The researchers who made it say it was built from the amino acid composition of peptide extracts of the pituitary gland. [1]

Other names: KEDG, Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly.

How it has been given to people: no human use on record.

What to know before reading a dose

  • There is no human data at all and no human dose on record. The published work is in chickens and hens and in cells in culture.
  • No published study shows that Testagen raises testosterone. The name and the label of male reproductive regulator come from the group that made it [6], with no study cited.
  • The animal work comes from one circle of researchers linked to the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. No independent group has repeated it.
  • The name is shared with an unrelated product. Testagen TDS is a testosterone skin spray that appears in a US drug label record and in a ClinicalTrials.gov entry [11]. Neither refers to this peptide.
  • Not an approved medicine in the US or Canada as of the check date. Health Canada warns against all unauthorized injectable peptide drugs [9].

What the evidence shows

Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.

Animal study

In chickens whose pituitary gland was removed, 40 days of Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly or Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly was followed by higher thyroid-stimulating hormone and thyroid hormone levels and recovery of thyroid structure. The abstract gives no dose. [2]

Animal study

In a follow-up in young chickens and old hens, the effect on thyroid hormones was weaker in the old birds. [3]

Animal study

In birds whose pituitary gland was removed, the peptide helped the structure of the thymus recover, more so than Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly did. [4]

Lab study

A fluorescent-tagged version entered human HeLa cells in culture and reached the nucleus, and the plain peptide bound DNA fragments in a test tube with a preference for certain sequences. [1]

Side effects and warnings

Reported in human studies or on a label:

  • No human side-effect report for Testagen was found. Health Canada lists these risks for unauthorized injectable peptide drugs in general: hormonal imbalance, mood swings, blood sugar imbalance, liver or kidney damage, blood clots and growth of cancerous tumours. [9]

Testagen has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.

Storage

Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.

Testagen dosage questions

How many units is 2 mg of Testagen from a 20 mg vial?

Mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 20 mg vial is 10 mg/mL. 2 mg is 0.20 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much water goes in a 20 mg Testagen vial?

2 mL gives 10 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 10, 20 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many doses are in a 20 mg vial?

Whole doses in one vial: 20 at 1 mg, 10 at 2 mg.

Is Testagen approved in the US?

Not FDA approved. No Testagen peptide product is in Drugs@FDA, and it is not on the FDA page of bulk substances reviewed for compounding.

Is Testagen authorized in Canada?

No Testagen product is in the Health Canada Drug Product Database. Health Canada warns against all unauthorized injectable peptide drugs.

What human dosing data is there for Testagen?

There is no human data at all and no human dose on record. The published work is in chickens and hens and in cells in culture.

Looked for and not found

  • No published human study of Testagen of any kind. PubMed lists two records under the name (a cell and DNA binding study and a copper corrosion paper) and a handful under the sequence Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly, all in birds.
  • No study measuring testosterone, luteinizing hormone, sperm or any other male reproductive outcome, in people or in animals. The bird studies measured thyroid hormones and thymus structure.
  • No dose in any abstract read, human or animal.
  • No human half-life or other pharmacokinetic figure.
  • No trial of the peptide on ClinicalTrials.gov. The one result for testagen is a testosterone skin spray with the same name [11].
  • No approved label in the US or Canadian sources searched, so no official dose, contraindications, interaction list or storage instructions.
  • No human side-effect or safety data.
