Terms A to Z
- Bacteriostatic water
- Sterile water with a small amount of preservative, used to mix a vial that will be drawn from more than once.
- Blend
- More than one peptide dried together in one vial. The parts are always drawn in the same proportion.
- Concentration
- How much peptide is in each millilitre of liquid, in mg/mL. Milligrams in the vial divided by millilitres of water added.
- DAC
- Drug affinity complex. A chemical addition to CJC-1295 that makes it last longer in the body. CJC-1295 with DAC and without DAC are dosed differently.
- Drug Product Database
- Health Canada's public list of authorized drug products and whether each is marketed.
- Drugs@FDA
- The FDA's public list of approved drug products and their labels.
- Half-life
- The time it takes for the amount of a substance in the blood to fall by half.
- Insulin syringe
- A small syringe with a fine fixed needle, marked in units. The charts on this site use the U-100 kind.
- IU
- International unit. A measure of how active a substance is. It is not weight or volume, and it is different for every substance.
- Label dose
- A dose printed on the label of a medicine approved by a regulator.
- Lyophilized
- Freeze-dried. Most peptide vials hold a lyophilized powder that is mixed with water before use.
- mcg
- Microgram. One thousandth of a milligram.
- mg
- Milligram. One thousandth of a gram. 1 mg is 1,000 mcg.
- mg/mL
- Milligrams per millilitre. The unit of concentration.
- mL
- Millilitre. A measure of volume. 1 mL is 100 units on a U-100 syringe.
- Off-label
- Use of an approved medicine for something, or at a dose, that is not on its label.
- Randomized trial
- A study where people are assigned by chance to the treatment or to a comparison. The strongest kind of human evidence listed on this site.
- Reconstitution
- Mixing a dry powder with water to make a liquid.
- Reported range
- Doses that people report using, which no human trial has tested. Marked as such on every chart that uses one.
- Subcutaneous
- Under the skin. The route most injected peptides on this site are given by.
- Titration
- Starting at a low dose and stepping up on a schedule, as the labels for semaglutide and tirzepatide do.
- U-100
- A syringe scale where 100 units is 1 mL.
- Unit (syringe)
- One mark of volume on an insulin syringe. On U-100, one unit is 0.01 mL.
- Vial
- The small glass bottle the peptide comes in. The milligrams printed on it are the total in the vial, not a dose.
