Cartalax dosage: chart, reported range and vial math
There is no established dose of Cartalax. No published human study of this peptide was found at any dose or by any route; the evidence is cell culture and rat work from one research group. Reports describe 2 to 5 mg a day, or 10 to 20 mg a day for 10 to 20 days, which is not a label dose. It is not approved in the US or Canada.
Cartalax dosage chart
Reported range, not a label dosePick your vial size. Each row shows the dose in milligrams or micrograms, the volume to draw and the mark on a U-100 syringe.

Source Reported range, not a label dose. Reports describe either 2 to 5 mg a day or a short course of 10 to 20 mg a day for 10 to 20 days. No published human study of this peptide was found at any dose or route; the evidence is cell culture and rat work. Vial math is arithmetic.

How to mix a Cartalax vial
These steps are for the 20 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.
- Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw 1 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
- Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
- Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
- Write the date and 20 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.
| Vial | Bacteriostatic water | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| 20 mg vial | 1 mL | 20 mg/mL |
What Cartalax is
Cartalax is the name used for the synthetic tripeptide Ala-Glu-Asp (AED), a Khavinson short peptide bioregulator that the research papers also code as T-31. It is studied in cartilage, skin and kidney cells. [2]
Other names: AED, AED peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp, T-31.
How it has been given to people: no human use on record.
What to know before reading a dose
- No human study of this peptide was found. Every dose in circulation comes from outside the published literature.
- All the evidence is cell culture and rat work, and nearly all of it comes from one research group in St. Petersburg and its collaborators.
- The joint and cartilage claim rests on cells in a dish [3], [4]. No study of joints in animals or people was found.
- Much of the published work on this peptide is about kidney cells and kidney function in rats, not cartilage [5], [6], [7], [8].
- In the one bone study, a cartilage extract tested beside the peptide worked significantly better than the peptide did [9].
- The name Cartalax does not appear in any PubMed record found; the research papers call the peptide AED or T-31.
- Not an approved medicine in the US or Canada as of the check date.
What the evidence shows
Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.
Animal study
In rats with kidney failure caused by cisplatin, AED lowered protein loss in the urine. Two other peptides in the same study did more. [5]
Animal study
In old rats, AED reduced protein in the urine. [8]
Animal study
In rats with bone loss after removal of the ovaries, T-31 protected bone density, but a cartilage extract tested beside it worked significantly better. [9]
Lab study
In aging cultures of human skin fibroblasts, the AED peptide raised production of sirtuin-1, sirtuin-6 and collagen I. [1]
Lab study
In aging cultures of human stem cells, AED and two related peptides raised IGF1 gene expression several fold. [2]
Lab study
The cartilage claim rests on cell culture: in aging human stem cells, AED switched on genes and proteins of cartilage formation. [3]
Lab study
In aging cartilage cells in culture, AED brought markers of the senescent secretory state back toward normal. [4]
Lab study
In aging kidney cell cultures, the peptide (coded T-31) switched on cell renewal markers. [6]
Lab study
In kidney cell culture, AED raised cell proliferation and lowered markers of cell aging. [7]
Lab study
In aging skin fibroblast cultures, AED reduced a marker of programmed cell death. [10]
Side effects and warnings
No side effect data from human studies was found for Cartalax. That is a gap in the research, not a sign that it is safe.
Cartalax has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.
Storage
Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.
Cartalax dosage questions
How many units is 5 mg of Cartalax from a 20 mg vial?
Mixed with 1 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 20 mg vial is 20 mg/mL. 5 mg is 0.25 mL, which is 25 units on a U-100 syringe.
How much water goes in a 20 mg Cartalax vial?
1 mL gives 20 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 10, 25, 50, 100 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many doses are in a 20 mg vial?
Whole doses in one vial: 10 at 2 mg, 4 at 5 mg, 2 at 10 mg, 1 at 20 mg.
Is Cartalax approved in the US?
Not FDA approved. No Cartalax product or label was found in Drugs@FDA.
Is Cartalax authorized in Canada?
No Cartalax product, current or cancelled, is in Health Canada's Drug Product Database. Injectable peptides are regulated as prescription drugs in Canada.
What human dosing data is there for Cartalax?
No human study of this peptide was found. Every dose in circulation comes from outside the published literature.

Looked for and not found
- No published human study of Cartalax or the AED peptide, by any route or at any dose. PubMed searches for cartalax, AED peptide, Ala-Glu-Asp and T-31 returned cell culture and rat papers only.
- No PubMed record uses the name Cartalax. The papers call the peptide AED, Ala-Glu-Asp or T-31, so the link between the trade name and the sequence could not be confirmed from a primary source.
- No study in an animal model of osteoarthritis or joint injury. The 2023 cartilage papers are cell culture work and say such studies are still to come [3].
- No human half-life or other pharmacokinetic figure.
- No human safety data.
- No trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov: a search for cartalax as the intervention returned no studies.
- No approved label in the US or Canadian sources searched, so no official dose, contraindications or storage instructions.
- Not named on the WADA Prohibited List (page checked 2026-10-11, [15]). The list has an open class, S0, for substances with no current approval by any governmental health authority; whether it applies to this compound was not determined here.
