Selank dosage: chart, reported range and vial math

The range reported for Selank is 200 to 500 mcg once or twice a day. No human dose could be verified: none of the published human study abstracts gives an amount or says clearly how it was given. It is not approved in the US or Canada.

How to mix a Selank vial

These steps are for the 5 mg vial picked in the chart. Change the size there and the amounts here change with it.

  1. Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the peptide vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw 3 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
  4. Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
  5. Write the date and 1.6667 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.

What Selank is

Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro), described in the Russian literature as an anti-anxiety drug and as an analog of tuftsin. [1]

Other names: TP-7, selank acetate, Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro.

How it has been given to people: not stated in the abstracts of the human studies found; into the nose (intranasal) in the animal work.

What to know before reading a dose

  • No human dose could be verified: none of the human study abstracts gives an amount.
  • The route is unverified too. The clinical abstracts do not state it, and one imaging abstract uses the word injection with no detail. It should not be assumed that patients were given Selank into the nose.
  • The human studies found are small comparisons with benzodiazepines (60 to 70 patients each) published in one Russian-language journal. PubMed indexes two of them as randomized controlled trials, but their abstracts do not describe randomization or blinding. None is registered on ClinicalTrials.gov.
  • Not approved in the US or Canada as of the check date. A 2021 review describes Selank as a poorly studied Russian drug sold to US consumers as a dietary supplement [8].
  • A Belgian public health laboratory that identified Selank and Semax in seized products wrote that, to its knowledge, they had not completed any clinical trials, and that they are sold online as powder for injection or in nasal sprays [9].
  • Health Canada named Selank among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs seized from an online seller [11].
  • FDA compounding status: on the FDA page current as of 2026-04-22, Selank is not in the table of substances now in category 2. It is in a separate list of substances that were in category 2 and were then withdrawn by their nominators [10].

What the evidence shows

Each finding is tagged by the kind of study it comes from. Human trials are listed first.

Randomized human trial

Generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia (62 patients): Selank in 30 patients was compared with the benzodiazepine medazepam in 32. Anxiety relief was similar, and Selank also reduced fatigue. PubMed indexes this as a randomized controlled trial; the abstract does not describe randomization or blinding. [2]

Randomized human trial

Anxiety disorders (70 patients): phenazepam alone in 30 was compared with Selank plus phenazepam in 40. The combination worked sooner on a rating scale and reduced phenazepam's side effects. PubMed indexes this as a randomized controlled trial; the abstract does not describe randomization or blinding. [4]

Small human study

Phobic-anxiety and somatoform disorders (60 patients), Selank compared with phenazepam: the authors reported a pronounced anti-anxiety effect that lasted a week after the last dose. [3]

Small human study

Patients with generalized anxiety disorder and neurasthenia who received Selank for 14 days showed a shift in blood cytokine balance. [5]

Small human study

Healthy participants (52 in all): brain scans before and 5 and 20 minutes after Semax, Selank or placebo showed a difference in connectivity between the right amygdala and the temporal cortex. [6]

Animal study

In rats, a single dose into the nose changed the level of 36 gene transcripts in the hippocampus more than 2-fold. [7]

Lab study

In laboratory tests on plasma, Selank slowed the breakdown of enkephalin, which the authors proposed as a mechanism for its anti-anxiety effect. [1]

Side effects and warnings

Reported in human studies or on a label:

  • The abstracts give no side-effect figures for Selank itself. In one study, adding Selank to phenazepam reduced the tranquilizer's side effects, such as impaired attention and memory, weakness and sedation. [4]
  • An early paper describes Selank as not causing the side effects typical of most anti-anxiety drugs. The abstract gives no data for that statement. [1]
  • A 2021 review from US pharmacy faculty calls Selank poorly studied and notes that it is sold to US consumers as a dietary supplement. [8]
  • FDA says it lacks important safety information on selank acetate in humans and names immune reactions from aggregation and peptide impurities as possible risks of compounded product. [10]

Selank has no approved label in the US or Canada for this use, so there is no official list of who should not use it, no interaction list and no missed-dose rule.

Storage

Keep an unmixed vial the way its label says. Once it is mixed, keep it in the fridge, do not freeze it, and write the mixing date on the vial.

Selank dosage questions

How many units is 300 mcg of Selank from a 5 mg vial?

Mixed with 3 mL of bacteriostatic water, a 5 mg vial is 1.6667 mg/mL. 300 mcg is 0.18 mL, which is 18 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much water goes in a 5 mg Selank vial?

3 mL gives 1.6667 mg/mL. At that strength the doses in the chart sit at 12, 18, 30 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many doses are in a 5 mg vial?

Whole doses in one vial: 25 at 200 mcg, 16 at 300 mcg, 10 at 500 mcg.

Is Selank approved in the US?

Not FDA approved. FDA lists selank acetate (TP-7) among bulk substances that were in compounding category 2 and whose nominations were then withdrawn.

Is Selank authorized in Canada?

No Selank product in the Health Canada Drug Product Database. Health Canada named Selank among unauthorized injectable peptide drugs seized from an online seller.

What human dosing data is there for Selank?

No human dose could be verified: none of the human study abstracts gives an amount.

Looked for and not found

  • No dose amount in any PubMed abstract of a human Selank study, so the doses list is empty. The abstracts give patient numbers and in one case a 14-day course, but no figure in mg or mcg.
  • Route in the human studies: not stated in the abstracts. One brain-imaging abstract uses the word injection without more detail [6]; the rat study gave it into the nose [7].
  • No human half-life or pharmacokinetic figure. A PubMed search for selank with pharmacokinetics, half-life or bioavailability returned only mouse and laboratory studies.
  • No label was retrieved. The Russian state register of medicines needs a captcha to search, so the Russian registration and label dose are not recorded here and the products list is empty.
  • No Selank trial registered on ClinicalTrials.gov: a search for selank as the intervention returned only two unrelated brain-stimulation studies.
  • Not named on the WADA Prohibited List (page checked 2026-10-10, [13]). The list also has an open class, S0, for substances with no current approval by any governmental health authority for human therapeutic use; whether it applies to this compound was not determined here.
