Cortagen 20 mg vial: mixing and syringe units

A 20 mg vial of Cortagen mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 10 mg/mL. At that strength 500 mcg is 5 units on a U-100 syringe and 2 mg is 20 units. The doses on this page are a reported range, not a label dose.

Cortagen 20 mg draw chart

Each row is one dose, the volume to draw and where that sits on a U-100 insulin syringe. The last three columns show which syringe sizes can hold it in one draw.

Source Reported range, not a label dose. Reports describe about 10 mcg per kg of body weight a day, or a flat 2 mg, for 10 to 30 days. No human study with a stated dose has been published; the 10 mcg per kg figure matches a rat study. Vial math is arithmetic.

How to mix a 20 mg Cortagen vial

  1. Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the Cortagen vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
  2. Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
  3. Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
  4. Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
  5. Write the date and 10 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.

If you add a different amount of water

More water makes each dose a bigger, easier draw. Less water makes it smaller. The milligrams in the vial do not change.

The marked row is the amount used in the chart above. Red cells are draws under 5 units, which are hard to read, or over 100 units, which one 1 mL syringe cannot hold.

Cortagen 20 mg vial questions

How many units is 500 mcg of Cortagen from a 20 mg vial?

With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 10 mg/mL. 500 mcg is 0.05 mL, which is 5 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many units is 1 mg of Cortagen from a 20 mg vial?

With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 10 mg/mL. 1 mg is 0.10 mL, which is 10 units on a U-100 syringe.

How many units is 2 mg of Cortagen from a 20 mg vial?

With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 10 mg/mL. 2 mg is 0.20 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe.

How much bacteriostatic water goes in a 20 mg Cortagen vial?

2 mL is the amount used on this page. It gives 10 mg/mL and puts the doses at 5, 10, 20 units. Any amount works as long as the math is redone for it.

What if I added 1 mL instead of 2 mL?

The vial would be 20 mg/mL instead of 10 mg/mL, so 500 mcg would be 2.5 units instead of 5. The dose in the syringe is the same; only the volume changes.

How many doses are in a 20 mg Cortagen vial?

Whole doses in one vial: 40 at 500 mcg, 20 at 1 mg, 10 at 2 mg.
