PT-141 (bremelanotide) 10 mg vial: mixing and syringe units
A 10 mg vial of PT-141 (bremelanotide) mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water is 5 mg/mL. At that strength 1 mg is 20 units on a U-100 syringe and 2 mg is 40 units. The doses on this page are a reported range, not a label dose.

Each row is one dose, the volume to draw and where that sits on a U-100 insulin syringe. The last three columns show which syringe sizes can hold it in one draw.
| Dose | Volume | Syringe units | 0.3 mL syringe | 0.5 mL syringe | 1 mL syringe |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mg Reported starting dose | 0.20 mL | 20 units | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 1.75 mg Vyleesi label | 0.35 mL | 35 units | No | Yes | Yes |
| 2 mg Reported high end | 0.40 mL | 40 units | No | Yes | Yes |
Source The label dose is for Vyleesi as supplied. The other rows are reported use, not a label dose. Vial math is arithmetic.
How to mix a 10 mg PT-141 (bremelanotide) vial
- Wash your hands. Wipe the stopper of the PT-141 (bremelanotide) vial and the water vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water into a syringe.
- Push the needle through the stopper of the peptide vial and let the water run slowly down the glass, not straight onto the powder.
- Swirl the vial gently until the powder is gone. Do not shake it.
- Write the date and 5 mg/mL on the vial, then put it in the fridge.
If you add a different amount of water
More water makes each dose a bigger, easier draw. Less water makes it smaller. The milligrams in the vial do not change.
| Water added | Concentration | 1 mg | 1.75 mg | 2 mg |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 10 units | 17.5 units | 20 units |
| 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 20 units | 35 units | 40 units |
| 3 mL | 3.3333 mg/mL | 30 units | 52.5 units | 60 units |
The marked row is the amount used in the chart above. Red cells are draws under 5 units, which are hard to read, or over 100 units, which one 1 mL syringe cannot hold.
How many doses are in the vial
| Dose | Whole doses in a 10 mg vial |
|---|---|
| 1 mg | 10 doses |
| 1.75 mg | 5 doses |
| 2 mg | 5 doses |
How long the vial lasts depends on how often it is used. The reported frequency for PT-141 (bremelanotide) is: as needed, not daily.
PT-141 (bremelanotide) 10 mg vial questions
How many units is 1 mg of PT-141 (bremelanotide) from a 10 mg vial?
With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 5 mg/mL. 1 mg is 0.20 mL, which is 20 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many units is 1.75 mg of PT-141 (bremelanotide) from a 10 mg vial?
With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 5 mg/mL. 1.75 mg is 0.35 mL, which is 35 units on a U-100 syringe.
How many units is 2 mg of PT-141 (bremelanotide) from a 10 mg vial?
With 2 mL of bacteriostatic water the vial is 5 mg/mL. 2 mg is 0.40 mL, which is 40 units on a U-100 syringe.
How much bacteriostatic water goes in a 10 mg PT-141 (bremelanotide) vial?
2 mL is the amount used on this page. It gives 5 mg/mL and puts the doses at 20, 35, 40 units. Any amount works as long as the math is redone for it.
What if I added 1 mL instead of 2 mL?
The vial would be 10 mg/mL instead of 5 mg/mL, so 1 mg would be 10 units instead of 20. The dose in the syringe is the same; only the volume changes.
How many doses are in a 10 mg PT-141 (bremelanotide) vial?
Whole doses in one vial: 10 at 1 mg, 5 at 1.75 mg, 5 at 2 mg.
